For manifestation of the spirit, for the unification of her people and as a call to love, righteousness and introspection, Sydney Lowell is a poet out of necessity. A reflection of herself, her poetry speaks on the unspoken and sensitive, the uplifting and the invisible. A well-spoken, outspoken, black woman in a tumultuous world, her poetry functions as an extension of herself; an extension that allows her to operate as a messenger. Sydney Lowell has found herself impressionable to anything that reminds her of ‘home’, earthiness and sensuality, drenching her poetry in jazz and soul.
So far, she has performed and hosted at many poetry nights, festivals and other cultural events in The Netherlands. Exactly a year after her first performance, in October 2019, she co-founded the Amsterdam-based cultural & creative platform We The People… , hosting poetry nights of her own.
Her passion for people, sharing and uplifting has also led her to work as a teacher at afterschool programs.
